What is a System?

"The most simplified definition of the term plural that includes all people who take the label is β€œsomeone who shares the same physical body with other individuals.” Such a group is sometimes referred to as a system, though many plural groups use different terminology. Because plurality can take many vastly different forms, it is difficult to expand this definition without excluding someone who might otherwise share characteristics or concerns with most other members of the community. It does seem this basic trait is the only thing groups of people who refer to themselves as plural universally share. In other words, there are many, many ways to be plural, and no two systems are the same even as far as basic characteristics. There are a lot of trends in the community, however, and various types within the umbrella term of plural that seem to be subsets. There is a prevailing theory in the community that sees plurality as a spectrum going from singlet (one person in one physical body) to median (a term describing groups that have one main member plus others who are somewhat separate) to multiple (a group of distinct individuals in which more than one person can take control of the physical body). Groups who deviate from these subsets are seen as occupying an in-between ground along the spectrum." - Plurality ResourceA system is a collection of alters within one body. This can include mental health diagnosis or unspecified. There are many ways to experience plurality and systemhood. Many have different names for different terms. Headmates, alters, brain mates, etc. The experience is so vast and wide, it's hard to define system hood as one strict thing, as it's more of a spectrum, like gender or ASD/mental afflictions. If you'd like to read up on the plural expierence and how to best educate yourself, we recommend these resources:

What type of System Are We?

Well. It's not really known yet.Sort of.

Doing a bunch of research, we've found small elements of each and every system. Gateway systems are sometimes defined as "alters with bodies in another dimension", dreamway systems have alters who enter in through dreams, soul bound through spiritual practices, etc. It's hard to define what kind of system we are (save for median). Everyone in this system has a nearly unique experience in forming, some walk-ins, some tulpas, some through shattering, even some just forming for protection. However, doing some introspection, we have found that this mind has been shattered since a young age. Since the time of a certain traumatic event, actually. By that logic, we would be OSDD-1B.

But, we just like being the Draco System, being called to front by our names, and being treated as separate people. Each and every one of us are our own people. We have our own thoughts, feelings, ideas, opinions, and sometimes even lives. We're a family, and just like every family we talk to each other, fight, laugh, make fun of, and love each other. We don't like being defined by our origin. It's based in unhealthy obsessions in needing to define everything into little neat boxes so we could be valid. We're valid regardless of a diagnosis. A diagnosis doesn't change the past, it doesn't change the pain and suffering done unto us.
